High Turnout in Upcoming Elections to Boost Iran’s Defense Might: DM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan underlined that a high turnout in the country’s Friday elections will further enhance the country’s military and defense power.

“The people’s massive presence in the parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections will boost the country’s defense power and guarantee national security and interests,” Brigadier General Dehqan said on Tuesday.

High turnout in the elections will be “disappointing for the enemies and promising for all those across the world who have pinned their hopes on the Islamic Revolution and its causes,” he stated.

The defense minister further emphasized that the Iranian people will shatter the enemies’ delusions and dreams by showing their vigilance and discernment.

In relevant remarks earlier on Monday night, Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani expressed the confidence that the country’s people would thwart a plot hatched by the US and Britain to undermine the upcoming polls.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani cautioned about recent attempts made by the US and Britain to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections in Iran, saying the enemies of the Islamic Establishment have always tried to harm the Islamic Revolution over the past 37 years, since its victory in February 1979.

However, he added, “Our people are vigilant, alive and wise and are capable of recognizing foreigners’ attempts to skew (the polls).”

The judiciary chief further said that the Iranian people will never allow the US and Britain to decide for them in the elections.

The people will deal a strong blow to the enemies with their high turnout, he went on to say.
