Iran Raps Terrorist Blasts in Baghdad, Lahore

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari slammed the recent terrorist bombings in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and Pakistani city of Lahore.

Jaberi Ansari offered condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and the nations and governments of the two neighboring countries, Iraq and Pakistan.

The two terrorist attacks “once again demonstrated that terrorists have targeted all manifestations of life in human societies,” he stated.

The Iranian spokesman also underlined that the recurrence of terrorist attacks in different parts of the world shows the necessity for international confrontation with the inauspicious phenomenon of terrorism and extremism.

A bombing in a soccer stadium near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, killed 41 people on Saturday.

The terror attack, which was claimed by the Daesh (ISIL) Takfiri group, also wounded 105 people.

A day later, at least 67 people were killed and hundreds injured, many of them children, when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a crowded park in the Pakistani city of Lahore where Christians were celebrating Easter.

Officials said the bomber had detonated the explosives packed with ball bearings near a children’s playing area in the popular Gulshan-i-Iqbal park.

The attack was the year’s deadliest in Pakistan, with officials saying the toll was set to rise.
