Iran to Send Delegation to Yemen over Kidnapped Staffer

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said Tehran plans to send a delegation to Yemen to pursue the fate of an Iranian Embassy staffer recently kidnapped in Sana'a.

“There are initial clues about abduction of Nikbakht, the administrative staffer of our country in Sana’a,” Amri Abdollahian told Tasnim on Friday.

He took the Yemeni government responsible for protecting the life of the kidnapped staffer, and added that Yemeni officials have assured Iran that the abducted Iranian diplomat will be freed.

“We hope that the efforts yield result as soon as possible, and we witness the freedom of the administrative staffer of our embassy in Sana’a,” the Iranian official reiterated.

A group of armed men kidnapped Iranian Embassy staff member Nourahmad Nikbakht in Sana'a last Sunday.

In a telephone conversation with his Yemeni counterpart on Sunday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called on Sana'a to take immediate action to help release the abducted staffer.

During the conversation, the Iranian foreign minister condemned the inhuman move, and called for serious and immediate action of the Yemeni government to free the Iranian national.
