Belarus Calls for Closer Industrial Cooperation with Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov voiced his country’s willingness to develop bilateral relations with Iran in various economic and political areas.
Speaking at the 13th session of Iran-Belarus Economic Commission in Minsk on Friday, which was attended by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Kobyakov praised the long record of cooperation between two countries and the resulting achievements.
He, however, regretted that the bilateral trade does not stand at a good level considering the capacities and capabilities of the two sides.
The Belarusian premier went on to say that many companies in the Eastern European country are willing to invest in the Islamic Republic’ various areas of industry, including manufacturing trucks, mining and road construction.
The joint economic commission meeting co-chaired by Nematzadeh and his Belarusian counterpart opened in Minsk with a 50-strong delegation of Iranian officials in attendance.
The session comes against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.
The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
