Iranian Speaker, Nicaraguan VP Underscore Expansion of Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Nicaragua’s vice-president stressed further expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Larijani said in a Saturday meeting with Moises Omar Halleslevens Acevedo, who is in Tehran to attend the new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony, that Iran’s parliament will welcome any step for strengthening of mutual cooperation.
“The two countries’ common and close stances on various international issues have prepared the proper ground for international cooperation between the two sides,” Larijani pointed out.
The Nicaraguan vice-president, for his part, expressed the Latin American country’s readiness for enhancing relations with Iran, and announced that the two countries can boost ties in political, economic and commercial fields.
Moises Omar Halleslevens Acevedo is among dozens of other foreign dignitaries who have traveled to Iran in order to attend President Hassan Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony.
The new Iranian president will take oath before the parliament as the country’s seventh president today, after yesterday’s endorsement of his presidency by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
Hassan Rouhani emerged victorious in the presidential election on June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout.
The voter turnout in the election stood at 72.7 percent and Rouhani gained 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted.
