Larijani: Iran Determined to Boost Cooperation with India

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian officials are resolved to improve the level of comprehensive cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said in a meeting with a visiting Indian vice president today.

“The great countries of Iran and India play strong roles in (resolving) problems that the region is facing with, therefore, promotion of the two countries’ cooperation in issues such as campaign against terrorism is a move that will be in the interests of the two countries and the region," Larijani said in his Monday meeting with India Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.

He stressed parliament’s readiness for boosting all-out friendly ties with India, particularly parliamentary cooperation.

The Indian Vice President Ansari, too, for his part announced the Indian Parliament and government’s readiness for further expansion of cooperation with Iran in commercial, economic, political, and cultural fields.

“India welcomes expansion of comprehensive relations with Iran in line with both sides’ interests," he stated.

India and Iran enjoy friendly relations in many areas and there are significant trade ties, particularly in crude oil exports to India.
