Iran, Bulgaria Resolved to Boost Bilateral Ties: VP
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri underlined that Tehran and Sofia are determined to quickly promote their bilateral relations in diverse areas, politics and economy in particular.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in Tehran on Monday, Jahangiri described the talks held earlier in the day between Iranian and Bulgarian high-ranking delegations as “positive and constructive”.
“During the negotiations, various fields of cooperation, including oil, gas, transport, industry and agriculture, were discussed,” he said, adding that the two sides also exchanged views about joint investment in different areas.
The Bulgarian premier, for his part, pointed to the recent deals and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed by the two countries and said Sofia is fully prepared to provide the grounds for implementation of the bilateral agreements.
In the meeting on Monday, attended by Jahangiri and Borissov, senior officials of the two countries signed three MoUs as part of efforts to boost economic cooperation.
According to one of the documents, Tehran and Sofia will develop cooperation in telecommunication and information technology.
Another MoU entails establishment of a joint working group between Iran’s Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance and the Invest Bulgaria Agency.
The third document was an MoU between Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization and Bulgaria’s Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency.
Borissov arrived in Iran on Monday morning and received a formal welcome at Tehran’s Sa’ad-Abad Palace.
