Iran Basketball Team Defeats Sacramento at William Jones Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran basketball team defeated California State University, Sacramento 70-59 at the 38th Williams Jones Cup on Monday.
The competition started on July 23 at the Sinjhuang Gymasium in New Taipei City and will run until July 31.
Iran has been scheduled to meet Egypt on Tuesday.
Iran started the event with a 73-61 win over Taiwan B on Saturday.
The Iranian team is preparing for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge which is an international basketball tournament.
FIBA Asia will be hosted by Iran from September 9 to 18 in Tehran.
This tournament will serve as the first step in determining the process of the qualifiers for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which will feature teams from both FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania for the first time.
