Daesh Claims France Church Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two Daesh (ISIL) 'soldiers' carried out the attack on a church in northern France, the terrorist group's Amaq news agency said in a statement Tuesday.

Two hostage takers killed a priest in a church in Normandy, northern France earlier Tuesday, before being shot dead by French police.

"They carried out the operation in response to the call to target the countries of the crusader coalition," the Amaq statement said, Reuters reported.

The attack is the latest in a string of deadly assaults in Europe. In France, the Normandy attack comes 12 days after a 31-year-old Tunisian killed 84 people in the French Riviera city of Nice when he plowed his heavy goods truck into a crowd of revelers. Daesh claimed the attack in Nice.
