Kazakhstan Renews Willingness to Host Iran-G5+1 Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A high-ranking Kazakh diplomat expressed his country’s willingness to host a fresh round of talks between Iran and the six world powers.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Sarybai announced that Astana is ready to host the talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five Permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany).
“If necessary, we’re ready to facilitate the negotiating process,” he said.
Last week, the Kazakhstani presidential press service reported that during his meeting with Iran's new President Hassan Rouhani, Nursultan Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan was ready to host the talks.
Iran and the G5+1 have held several rounds of talks on a range of issues.
The two sides wrapped up their latest round of negotiations on April 6 in the Kazakh city of Almaty. An earlier meeting had been held in Almaty on February 26-27.
