Official: Germany Open for More Commitments in Trade with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Germany’s vice-chancellor and economy minister expressed Berlin’s readiness to make more commitments in its trade interaction with Tehran in order to assure Iran’s market that German businesses are not only after making profit.

German companies are not in Iran just to earn a profit and return home, Sigmar Gabriel, who is in Iran with a big economic delegation, said in an address to an Iran-Germany joint trade meeting on Monday.

Germany believes that interaction with Iran should entail the transfer of technological expertise, employment of Iran’s capacities, creation of added value, and establishment of a permanent regional market, the German vice-chancellor said, adding that his country is prepared to make more commitments regarding those issues.

As regards bilateral banking ties, Gabriel said Iranian and German banks have already launched talks, noting that Iran can now receive international finances provided that the grounds for financial transparency are prepared in Iran.

He further highlighted the significance Germany attaches to vocational training                                                                                                              , saying the European country is ready to assist Iran by re-establishing vocational schools many years after such centers were for the first time founded by Germans in Iran.

Gabriel finally emphasized that expansion of Tehran-Berlin relations should lead to improvement of life conditions in Iran and help protection of the environment.

Several German business delegations have travelled to Iran since coming into force of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in January.
