Saudi Airstrike Kills over 45 in Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Saudi warplanes struck a prison in Yemen's western coastal province of Hudaydah, killing at least 45 people including inmates, a report said.

The prison in the city's al-Zaydiyah district was holding 84 prisoners when it was struck three times late Saturday, a local official, relatives and medical sources said.

There was no immediate comment from the regime, Reuters reported on Sunday.

At least 17 civilians were killed in the southwestern province of Taiz Saturday by a kingdom’s airstrike that struck a house, officials and residents said.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to UN estimates, over 10,000 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the military campaign.

On October 8 alone, Saudi-led warplanes killed over 140 people and injured more than 600 others in an airstrike on a crowded funeral ceremony in Sana’a.
