Iran Runner-up at Sanda World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran finished in second place in the 8th Sanda World Cup on Sunday.

The Iranian team won four gold and three silver medals in the competition.

Iran’s Sedigheh Daryaei in the women’s -60kg weight class, Shahrbanoo Mansourian in the women’s -65kg, Mohammadhossein Seyfi in the men’s -70kg and Hamidreza Gholipour in the men’s 90kg won four gold medals.

Maryam Hashemi in the women’s -70kg, Erfan Ahangarian in the men’s -65kg and Amir Fazli in the men’s -85kg seized three silver medals.

Powerhouse China won the championship with 10 gold medals and the Philippines finished in third place winning two gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

The 8th Sanda World Cup represented the "best of the best" in Xian, China from November 4 to 6.

The competition brought a total of 71 world champion athletes from 19 countries comprised of top placing sanda athletes from the previous World Wushu Championships together.

Iran partook in the prestigious competition with seven athletes.
