Iranian, Hungarian Speakers Hold Talks in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Laszlo Kover held a meeting in Tehran on Saturday that revolved around closer economic interaction between the two countries.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the meeting, Larijani said a major topic in the talks with the visiting Hungarian official was the grounds for developing economic cooperation.

According to Larijani, they have also discussed investment in the energy sector, bus manufacturing, environment, water management, as well as cultural and academic cooperation.

Pointing to talks about the regional developments and the crises caused by terrorism in the region, Larijani said Tehran and Budapest share common views on terrorism as an ominous phenomenon in the world.

Leading a Hungarian parliamentary delegation, Kover arrived in Iran on Thursday. He also held a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday.

In November 2015, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban paid a visit to Iran, leading a group of 120 economic activists, businessmen and officials from the European country’s banks.

The two countries inked eight documents on cooperation in various areas during the visit, which marked the first trip by a Hungarian prime minister to the Islamic Republic in 27 years.
