Syrian Forces Liberate 25 Areas in Aleppo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army, backed by voluntary forces, managed to wrest control of 25 villages in Aleppo after dealing a severe blow to Takfiri terrorists in the northwestern province.

On Friday, the army troops continued their military campaign against terrorist groups in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo, liberating 25 villages from the grip of the militants, a military source said, according to Syria’s official SANA news agency.

Tal Shaer, al-Ta’ana, Harysa, al-Wardieh, and Jobah were among the areas recaptured from the terrorists, the source added.

Separately, the army’s artillery pounded Daesh (ISIL or ISI) positions in al-Qasser, southwestern Sweida province, leaving large groups of militants dead and injured.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
