Yemeni Troops Repel Major Attack by Pro-Hadi Militias near Alab Crossing

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s army and allied Popular Committees fighters repelled a major attack by militias loyal to the Arab country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, near the Alab crossing on the border with Saudi Arabia’s southern province of Dhahran al-Janoub.

On Sunday, large groups of pro-Hadi forces were killed as Yemeni forces repulsed a major offensive from inside Saudi Arabia near the Alab crossing, Lebanese Al-Mayadeen television channel reported.

The army troops also inflicted heavy material losses on the Saudi-backed militants and destroyed six of their vehicles.

Meanwhile, reports said that Saudi warplanes recently targeted civilian areas in Yemen's northwestern Sa'ada province, killing and injuring several people.

Yemen has been under almost daily airstrikes by Saudi Arabia since March 2015. International sources put the death toll from the aggression at almost 10,000. According to the UN, Saudi airstrikes are to blame for 60 percent of civilian deaths in Yemen.
