Eastern Aleppo Militants in Talks with Syrian Army on Terms of Surrender

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Armed groups which are occupying the eastern districts of the Syrian city of Aleppo are reportedly in secret talks with the army on the terms of surrender from the region.

According to the Al-Watan newspaper citing sources, continuous losses in the region sparked disagreements among the militants, Sputnik reported.

Some of them have launched secret talks with the Syrian army on legalizing their status and leaving eastern Aleppo, to head to the city’s army-controlled western districts.

Over recent months, Aleppo became major battleground in Syria, engaging government forces and numerous terrorist groups. Eastern Aleppo is currently encircled by government troops, and the fighting has affected thousands of civilians still trapped in the city.

Previous internationally mediated ceasefires have collapsed as militants continued attacks and opposition failed to expel al-Nusra Front, which now calls itself Jabhat Fatah al Sham, from the city.
