Iran’s Zarif Hails Tehran-Paris Growing Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif hailed efforts to implement agreements reached between Tehran and Paris, saying that as an outcome of those efforts, bilateral trade has tripled during the 11 months after coming into force of Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers.
“After Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s trip to France, a road map to the promotion of relations was developed,” Zarif said in a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Jean-Marc Ayrault, in Tehran on Tuesday.
“Today, the implementation of the road map has had positive effects on various fields,” he said, adding that in the economic field, the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries tripled 11 months after the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), came into force.
The top diplomat further pointed to Tehran-Paris political ties and said the two sides have had positive discussions on the JCPOA implementation and the fight against terrorism.
The JCPOA was reached between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany) on July 14, 2015.
All nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran were terminated when the two sides stated implementing it on January 16, 2016.
