Ayatollah Khamenei: Trump Revealing US Corrupt Nature

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei reminded the new US president that Iran is not afraid of threats, and said Trump has done Iran a favor by disclosing the magnitude of corruption in the US and showing the real face of America to the world.

In an address to Iranian Air Force commanders and personnel in Tehran on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran has been saved the trouble of revealing the nature of the US since Donald Trump confirmed “the Islamic Republic of Iran’s statements over the past 38 years about the political, economic, moral and social corruption of the establishment ruling the US.”

“With his words and deeds during the election campaign and in recent days, the new (US) president has plainly exposed the real nature of the US before the eyes of people of the world, and is revealing what the true US is,” Imam Khamenei added.

As regards the US president’s anti-Iran rhetoric after taking the office, the Leader underlined that “Iranians are not afraid of threats,” adding that Trump is going to get a response for his comments and threats in the upcoming rallies in Iran marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

As regards Trump’s comment that Iran “should have been thankful” for Obama's administration, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “We are by no means thankful for that (Obama’s) administration because it imposed heavy sanctions with the intent to cripple the Iranian nation and the Islamic Establishment, an objective it did not achieve, and no other enemy will be able to cripple this great nation either.”

Imam Khamenei said there is no point in thanking the previous US administration that imposed sanctions on Iran, created the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group, ignited conflicts in Syria and Iraq, and adopted a hypocritical approach by expressing “willingness for cooperation in a private letter” but at the same time brazenly supporting riots in Iran after the 2009 presidential election.

“These are the proof of the velvet gloves over iron fists of the previous US administration,” Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.

Iranian people are preparing for nationwide demonstrations on Friday, February 10, to mark the 38th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

This year’s rallies are expected to see more anti-US sentiments given Trump’s outspoken criticism of Iran and his executive order banning Iranian people from entering the US.
