Iran Keeping Watchful Eye on Enemy Moves: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lieutenant Commander of Iran’s Army Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan warned of the dire consequences an intruder in Iran’s airspace will have to face.

The Iranian Air Defense is closely monitoring the country’s entire airspace, the top commander said at a cultural ceremony in Tehran on Wednesday.

He also reminded the enemies that all of their moves are under surveillance and within the range of Iran’s Air Defense action, saying the country can destroy any hostile moves in the air whenever it intends to.

In comments in November 2016, Commander of Iran’s Air Defense Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said his forces have such advanced gear that can detect and act against threats well before they could approach the country’s airspace.

The country’s air defense strategies are devised with an eye to contemporary threats, he added.

The Air Defense held a massive drill in December 2016 covering an area of 496,000 square kilometers in Iran’s southern areas, mainly the provinces of Hormozgan, Bushehr and Khuzestan.
