VP: Iran Keen to Enhance Ties with Albania

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri expressed his country’s willingness to boost bilateral relations with Albania.

In a Wednesday congratulatory message to Albanian new Prime Minister Edi Rama, Jahangiri pointed to the two countries’ capabilities for strengthening mutual relations, and said Tehran is ready to increase its cooperation with Tirana in different fields.

Rama led a coalition of socialist and left-wing parties that won the 2013 elections in Albania. He has recently taken the office as prime minister after the opening of the new Albanian parliament.

The Iranian official, in his message, also expressed the hope Tehran and Tirana would further increase bilateral relations in political, economic and cultural fields.

In relevant remarks on August 12, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursue the policy of "constructive interaction" with other countries as a basis for Tehran's foreign policy.

Rouhani had also stated that his administration would try to "create new opportunities for the country, remove threats and pursue policy of détente and mutual trust."
