Asian Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship: Iran Loses to Hong Kong

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran suffered its successive defeat in the 11th Asian Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship on Monday.

Iran lost to Hong Kong 3-1 (23–25, 25–23, 25–18, 25–21) in Pool A in Chongqing No. 8 Secondary School Yubei Campus.

Majda Cicic’s girls had already lost to host China in straight sets (25-14, 25-6, 25-12) on Sunday.

Iran will wait for its rival in the 9th-12th classification round.

The tournament has brought a total of 11 teams including reigning champion Japan, China, Iran, Thailand, Korea, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Australia and Samoa together.

The teams will vie in the next nine days for the four tickets to the 2017 FIVB Girls’ U18 World Championship, which is due to take place in Argentina from August 18 to 27.
