ACL MD3: Iran’s Esteghlal, Zob Ahan to Meet Uzbek Teams
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Esteghlal will welcome Uzbekistan champion Lokomotiv to the Azadi Stadium on Monday while Zob Ahan will face Bunyodkor in Tashkent in Matchday Three of the AFC Champions League.
Esteghlal will face Lokomotiv in Group A in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
The Blues, who lost their opening match to Al-Ahli of the UAE 2-1 and defeated Al-Taawoun of Saudi Arabia 3-0 on Matchday Two, lead the table with three points thanks to a better goal difference.
The Tashkent-based side claimed a 2-0 win against Sepahan on its last trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran almost a year ago to the date.
Also, Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan will look to end its unenviable record of longest winless run in the history of the AFC Champions League when the team welcomes Zob Ahan in Group C on Monday.
Zob Ahan has also struggled so far in this year’s AFC Champions League with just one point from its two games so far and it is also yet to win in its domestic league since the end of January.
