TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani left Tehran for Moscow on Monday to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation as part of efforts to boost bilateral relations between the two countries in all spheres.

Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, President Rouhani departed for Moscow at the official invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and the president’s deputies are among the members of the delegation accompanying him in the trip to Russia.

The deputy head for communications and information at the president’s office, Parviz Esmaeili, earlier told Tasnim that President Rouhani would meet with his Russian counterpart and other officials of the country and exchange views on various bilateral, regional and international issues.

He added that several cooperation agreements and documents in diverse areas, including legal services, roads and urban development, technology and communications, energy and power, and sports are planned to be signed between the two countries.

Russia and Iran hold regular and close consultations on the region, Syria in particular, toward coordinating their efforts in helping restore security to Western Asia and the Arab country.
