Minister: Iran Has no Technological Constraints for Missile Production
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran enjoys the advanced technology for production of all kinds of missiles with different ranges, Iranian minister of defense announced, but added that the country's capabilities are based on a defensive doctrine.
"We have the technology to produce any aerial, surface and naval missiles in keeping with our needs and the threats we may face. Today we are among the best in the region in this regard," Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan said in a TV program on Monday.
He also added that Iran enjoys unchallenged regional supremacy in producing “solid and liquid fueled ballistic missiles, anti-ship and anti-submarine maritime missiles, as well as air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles”.
There is no “technological limitation” for Iran to manufacture missiles with various ranges, the Iranian minister stated.
On Saturday, the Iranian defense minister said his ministry wants to achieve effective deterrence and comprehensive defense for the country through a creative defensive system and a technological-strategic leap.
“This goal will be realized through an innovative defensive system, a forward-looking approach, and monitoring of defensive and technological developments as well as materialization of a strategic technological leap,” Dehqan said at the time.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems, including military vessels, aircraft, missiles, tanks, armored vehicles, submarines, radars, and air defense systems, among others.
Tehran has frequently announced that its military might is entirely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
