Spokeswoman: Iran to Continue Transparent, Constructive Cooperation with IAEA

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has had transparent, constructive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency which has never found any diversion in the country's peaceful nuclear activities, the spokeswoman of Iran's foreign ministry said.

“Iran’s acts of cooperation with the (International Atomic Energy) agency have been constructive and transparent…The agency’s reports have always revealed lack of diversion in Iran’s nuclear activity,” Marziyeh Afkham said in her weekly press conference on Tuesday, here in Tehran.

She also noted that the IAEA has so far conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities, and that Tehran has had no change in its cooperation with the UN's nuclear agency.

“We had no shift in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and we hope to witness good results in next rounds (of negotiation) which are scheduled to be held on September 27,” Afkham added.

In a relevant development on Monday, Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano said the IAEA is ready to work with the government of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to resolve Tehran’s nuclear issue.

“IAEA remains committed to working constructively with Iran, under the country's new government, to resolve outstanding issues by diplomatic means,” Amano said at the time.

But he called on Iranian authorities, to allay concerns about the nature of the country’s nuclear energy program.

The United States and the European Union have imposed illegal unilateral sanctions against Iran over the false claim that Iran's nuclear energy program might include a military component.

Iran rejects the allegation, arguing that numerous inspections of its nuclear sites by the IAEA have invariably failed to find any diversion towards military purposes.
