Iran Condemns Sweden Terrorist Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned a Friday terrorist attack in Sweden in which a truck plowed into pedestrians in Stockholm killing at least four people and injuring a dozen more.

In a statement on Saturday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi offered Iran’s condolences to the Swedish government and nation over the terrorist attack.

The criminal move in Sweden at the hands of one of those fostered by the ideology of bigotry, insanity and massacre reveals how unbridled terrorism that is being brazenly supported by certain countries has crossed all humanitarian, ideological and geographical borders and created insecurity and instability in the world, he said.

Qassemi added that eradication of terrorism will occur only through “serious resolve, sincere action and global consensus.”

Iran, a victim of terrorism, has spared no effort in the past years in the war on terrorism, and is ready for any cooperation within a regional and international mechanism to battle against terror and violence without the hypocritical, common political games, the spokesman underlined.

Following the incident in Sweden, a man is being held on suspicion of terrorism offenses and is likely to be the driver of the vehicle.

Police sources say a bag of undetonated explosives has been found inside the stolen truck.
