Ukraine, Japan Support Russia's Proposal on Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Russia's proposal on chemical weapons in Syria was supported by Ukraine and Japan.

A statement from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the country was hoping for any international initiatives, "including the recently made proposal to establish international control over chemical weapons."

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed support for Russia's proposal to transfer the Syrian arsenal of chemical weapons under the control of the international community.

Earlier, the Syrian government expressed its consent to such an initiative, but the Syrian rebels refused to obey the decision, Pravda.Ru reported.
