Persepolis Downs Padided in Trophy Ceremony

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team defeated Padideh 4-0 in Iran Professional League (IPL) in the 80,000-seater Azadi Stadium in Tehran on Wednesday.

The nine-year wait for a trophy finally ended Saturday for Branko Ivankovic’s team when Persepolis defeated rock bottom Machine Sazi 2-0 to win IPL with three games to spare.

In the trophy ceremony held at the Azadi Stadium, Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Masoud Soltanifar awarded the medal to Persepolis’s players.

For Persepolis in the match against Padideh, Kamal Kamyabinia opened the scoring five minutes into the second half.

Ali Alipour scored the second gold in the 68th minute and Mehdi Taremi opened the goal from the close-range two minutes later.

Farshad Ahmadzadeh, who came off the bench in the 58th minute, scored the fourth goal with a diving header in the 89th minute.

Several Persepolis players took part in the trophy ceremony with their children.
