Deputy FM Reiterates Iran’s Commitments to Nuclear Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi underlined after a meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano in Vienna that Tehran has remained committed to undertaking under a 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

The meeting between Araqchi and Amano on Monday came a day before the seventh scheduled meeting of the Joint Commission of Iran and Group 5+1, which monitors the implementation of the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“As the entire world knows and repeated reports by the agency have confirmed, Iran has always been committed to its obligations and carefully implemented the JCPOA,” Araqchi, who is the Iranian head of the commission, said.

He, however, emphasized that the other side had not fully complied with its obligations under the JCPOA, Press TV reported.

Araqchi commended the “good cooperation” between Iran and the IAEA and said issues and obstacles always exist and are discussed in different meetings and removed through expert action.

The Iranian official emphasized that the Islamic Republic seeks to continue its cooperation with the UN nuclear agency.

Araqchi and Helga Schmid, the Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), will co-chair the seventh meeting of the Joint Commission monitoring the implementation of the JCPOA.
