Iran’s Zob Ahan Out of AFC Champions League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Zob Ahan football team of Iran lost to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli 2-0 and failed to book a place at the 2017 AFC Champions League Round of 16.

On Monday, after a goalless first-half, Abdulfattah Asiri put Al Ahli in front in the 63rd minute and, with six minutes remaining, Amiri Kurdi put the result beyond doubt when he slid in to score from six yards out.

Al Ain of the UAE advanced to the Round of 16 as the first team and Zob Ahan finished in third place.

The Jeddah-based club secured the second place in Group C.
