Asian Women's U-23 Volleyball Championship: Iran Routs New Zealand

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran thrashed New Zealand at the 2017 Asian Women's U-23 Volleyball Championship on Monday.

Sima Sedighi’s girls defeated New Zealand in straight sets (28-26, 25-22, 25-20) in Pool D at the Mall Nakhon Ratchasima’s MCC Hall.

The Iranian team swept past Malaysian team in straight sets in its first match on Sunday.

Iran will play Vietnam on Tuesday in Pool F.

The 2017 Asian Women's U-23 Volleyball Championship is a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA).

The tournament will serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women's U-23 World Championship held in Ljubljana and Maribor, Slovenia with the top two ranked teams qualifying for the world championship.
