Celtic Ready to Move for Iran’s Sardar Azmoun: Report

TEHRAN(Tasnim) - Iranian international striker Sardar Azmoun is a potential replacement for Moussa Dembele in Celtic.

Dembele is wanted by AC Milan and will likely leave the Scottish team.

Azmoun was scouted by Celts coach Brendan Rodgers when he was Liverpool boss, and is attracting interest from across Europe, SunSport reported.

The 22-year-old Rostov striker scored 12 goals last season, including strikes against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Azmoun has a year left on his contract and is also being tracked by Everton, Villarreal, Lazio and several Russian teams.

But Azmoun recently vowed not to go anywhere unless he’s guaranteed first-team football, after rejecting fresh interest from Liverpool in January.

“I did not feel the time to move was right. I would have ended up playing a few games for Liverpool, and then spending a great deal of time on the bench,” Azmoun said.

“I want to go to a big club and develop as a player, but I need to be serious about choosing the right moment to go. I am sure I will move to a top European club in the future,” he added.
