Hezbollah Condemns Terror Attacks in Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Lebanese Resistance Movement Hezbollah strongly denounced the recent terrorist attacks in the Iraqi town of Musayyib, south of Baghdad, and the holy city of Karbala, in which dozens were killed and wounded.

In a statement on Friday, Hezbollah said, “The criminal killing machine which has been annihilating innocents has a terrorist ideology whose origin and funds are well known”.

The followers of this ideology are committing such crimes in the name of religion in a bid to implement the schemes of their regional and international masters, the statement added, warning that such schemes are aimed at undermining stability in the region.

The Lebanese resistance movement called for a firm stance to confront terrorism on the political, ideological and media levels, stressing that “covering up this criminal ideology and its followers is no more accepted.”

Hezbollah then offered condolences to families of the martyrs, hoping speedy recovery for those wounded.

A suicide bomber blew himself up in a market in the town of Musayyib on Friday killing at least 30 people.

A woman detonated her explosive belt in a market east of the Shiite holy city of Karbala on Friday, killing at least 30 and wounding 35, Iraqi security sources said.

The attack in Musayyib came hours after another, apparently failed attack in the Shiite shrine city of Karbala, a few kilometers to the southwest.

Four civilians were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of the city’s main bus station early Friday, police sources said.

Both attacks were claimed by the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group through its propaganda agency Amaq.

Daesh has carried out dozens of deadly suicide bombings targeting civilians but Iraq has been on heightened alert since the start of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
