Yemeni Army Inflicts Losses on Saudi-Backed Militants in Taiz

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s army, backed by popular forces, targeted the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in the Arab country’s southwestern province of Taiz, killing and injuring scores of them.

On Tuesday afternoon, Yemeni troops launched an operation against the militants in the Yakhtal area of the Red Sea port city of Mokha in Taiz, a military source told Yemen’s Saba news agency.

At least five people were killed and dozens of others injured in the surprise attack, the source added.

The gathering centers of the Takfiri militants were also shelled by the army’s artillery in al-Tashrifat area in the province, it added.

Earlier in the day, army troops had foiled a major attack by the Saudi-backed mercenaries in the Dabab district of Taiz.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than two years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Hadi.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
