We Expected to Beat Iran: Russia Coach Shliapnikov

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russia volleyball coach Sergey Shliapnikov says that he expected to defeat Iran in the 2017 FIVB World League’s last match.

On Sunday, Iran lost to Russia in straight sets (26-24, 25-18, 25-18) in week 3.

“We did a good job. It is a result which we expected. Players showed discipline on court. Before the next matches we need to improve our game in all elements,” Shliapnikov said.

Russia wing spiker Egor Kliuka also said: “I'm happy that we won, and we achieved the exact result we wanted. For us seeing Iran playing their reserves didn't matter because our staff prepared us to play against all of the team.”
