Escalation of Terrorism to Benefit Israel: Iran’s President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s president referred to the Zionist regime of Israel as the main beneficiary of escalation of terrorist activities in the region, saying the laborious process of battling terrorism would allow Israel to press on with its aggressive policies and consign Palestine to oblivion.
“The more terrorist activities escalate in the region, the greater benefits the Zionists will gain,” President Hassan Rouhani said in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
As regional countries concentrate their assets, resources and forces on the war on terrorism, the Tel Aviv regime can easily continue acts of aggression and the issue of Palestine will gradually fade into oblivion, President Rouhani warned.
He further lashed out at Israel for its overt or covert role in most of the conflicts among regional countries, stressing that tackling Zionism requires Muslim unity.
Rouhani then reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to assisting all nations in the fight against terrorism in order to serve regional peace and stability.
The president also underscored that Iran will not allow the masters of terrorism to take terrorist activities inside its borders.
Describing a recent missile strike the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched against terrorists in Syria as a result of Iran’s collective decision, the president said it was not a personal or factional decision, but endorsed by the Supreme National Security Council.
President Rouhani went on to say that the Iranian Armed Forces have been given the authority to take even greater measures.
On Sunday night, the IRGC fired six high-precision missiles at positions of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor in retaliation for a recent terrorist attack in Tehran.
According to reports, all missiles have hit their target, wreaking destruction on Daesh sites and killing dozens of terrorists.
