Iran’s General Staff Calls for High Turnout in Worldwide Quds Day Rallies

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces referred to the Palestinian issue as a major factor boosting Muslim nations’ unity and a symbol of their campaign against arrogant powers, calling on all “freedom-seekers” to take part in the upcoming worldwide rallies marking the Quds Day.

In a statement issued on Wednesday ahead of the International Quds Day, the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces hailed al-Quds (Jerusalem) as “the beloved part of Islam” and a symbol of Muslims’ unity and the campaign against the global arrogance.

The statement also emphasized that ignoring the Palestinian issue would be tantamount to realization of the “sinister dream” of Israel for Judaization of al-Quds.

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces further called on people from all walks of life in Iran and freedom-seekers around the world to massively participate in the Quds Day rallies.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

This year, Muslims world over will mark the International Quds Day on June 23.
