Iran Edges Past Ukraine at FIVB U-21 World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran earned a hard-fought five-set victory over Ukraine at the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U-21 World Championship on Saturday.

In the first match of the second day in the Budvar Arena in Ceske Budejovice, Iran defeated Ukraine 3-2 (25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13) in Pool C.

Rasoul Aghchehli managed a team-high 28 points for Iran, while Tymofii Poluian scored 27 points for Ukraine.

Iran started the competition with a 3-0 victory over Italy in Czech Republic on Friday.

The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U-21 World Championship will be the nineteenth edition of the international volleyball tournament and the world championship for men's national teams under the age of 21, organized by the sport's world governing body, FIVB.
