EU, despite US Hostility , Fully Committed to JCPOA: Iran’s FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the European Union (EU) has remained fully committed to its obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

“Excellent meetings with leaders in Berlin, Rome & Paris. Despite US reckless hostility, EU committed to #JCPOA & constructive engagement,” Zarif said in a message posted on his official Twitter account on Friday after he concluded his European tour in France on Friday.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached the 159-page nuclear agreement, also known the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in July 2015 and implemented it in January 2016.

In another post on the same day, he wrote, “The UN & entire world say Iran is in full compliance with its commitments, but US visceral hatred of Iran compels it to deny the obvious.”

The top Iranian diplomat arrived in Paris on Thursday in a tour of Europe that took him earlier to Germany and Italy.

He departed Paris for Tehran on Friday evening.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly stressed that the promotion of Tehran’s relations with European countries can help enhance regional security.
