Syria Army Establishes Control over Eastern District in Homs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains against Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Homs, managing to retake a key area in the central province.

On Saturday, Syrian forces targeted the positions of the Takfiri terrorists in the eastern countryside of Homs and established full control over Jbab Hamad district, a military source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told SANA news agency.

The attack inflicted considerable casualties on the terrorists and destroyed their equipment and systems, the source added.

Meanwhile, Syrian warplanes killed dozens of Daesh terrorists and destroyed their vehicles in Badiyat Hmeimieh and to the east of Arak in the eastern countryside of the province.

In a separate development, the Arab country’s jets destroyed the terror group’s gatherings and vehicles in south and east of al-Fahdeh Station, south of Beir Abu Kobra and Khibret al-Haloul in the western countryside of the northern province of Raqqa.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
