Zarif to Attend Parliamentary Commission Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is going to attend a session of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission for talks on regional developments, a lawmaker said.

Zarif has been invited to a meeting of the parliamentary commission on Tuesday, member of the commission Javad Karimi Qoddousi told Tasnim on Saturday.

The upcoming session will discuss various regional issues, the parliamentarian added.

Iran’s ranking diplomats, particularly those involved in the nuclear negotiations that resulted in a landmark nuclear deal with world powers, regularly go to the parliament to provide the lawmakers with the latest information on political developments.

The influential National Security and Foreign Policy Commission drafts periodic reports on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
