Friday Operation Shows Palestinians Still Back Resistance: Hamas Military Wing

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ezzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said Friday’s shooting incident in the Old City of al-Quds (Jerusalem) proved that the Palestinian nation still supports the anti-Israeli resistance front.

“Today’s operation showed that the Palestinian nation, despite all plots and schemes, still adheres to resistance in the face of the Zionist enemy,” Abu Obeida, a spokesman for the brigades, said in a message posted on his Twitter account.

It came after a shooting incident in al-Quds early on Friday left at least three Palestinians and two Israeli police officers dead.

The Palestinian victims were identified as Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Jabarin, 29, Muhammad Hamid Abd al-Latif Jabarin, 19, and Muhammad Ahmad Mufdal Jabarin, 19.

Sami Abu Zuhri, the Hamas spokesman in Gaza City, described Friday’s shooting attack as “a natural response to Israel’s terrorism and its desecration of the Aqsa Mosque.”

The Aqsa Mosque operation confirmed that the Quds "intifada (uprising) is going on and that the Palestinian people stand united behind the resistance,” he said, according to the Palestinian Information Center.

The occupied territories have already been the scene of increased tensions ever since Israeli forces imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds in August 2015.

Over 300 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli force since October that year, when the clashes intensified.
