Iran’s Hardani Claims Silver at World Para Athletics Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Javad Hardani from Iran won a silver medal at the World Para Athletics Championships Friday night.

The Iranian athlete won the silver medal in the F38 shot put with a throw of 14.13m.

Australia’s Cameron Crombie – the 31-year-old produced the first world record of London 2017 in the event. He also picked up the first gold medal of the day – at his first ever World Championships. He threw 15.95m to smash the previous record mark by 37cm.

Sweden's Victor Svanesohn took bronze with 13.63m.

The World Para Athletics Championships will run through to 23 July. More than 1,150 athletes from 90 countries are competing in 202 medal events.
