Syrian Jets Hit Daesh Positions in Deir Ez-Zor, Raqqa, Homs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian warplanes on Sunday targeted the positions of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Deir ez-Zor, inflicting major losses upon them in the western countryside of the eastern province.

Syrian jets pounded the gathering centers of the Takfiri militants in the neighborhoods of  Panorama, al-Hamidiyeh, al-Rashdiyeh, al-Kanamat and al-Bghiliyeh in Deir ez-Zor, leaving a large group of them dead and injured, SANA news agency reported.

Separately, the Syrian Air Force carried out intensive airstrikes against Daesh in the southern countryside of the northern province of Raqqa.

The militants’ hideouts in the areas of al-Fhaidi Station, Beir al-Rmailan, Tal Rajoum, and al-Zamleh were heavily pounded in the raids.

In addition, the terror group suffered serious setbacks in the central province of Homs after the Arab country’s military aircraft bombarded their positions in the districts of Hmeima and al-Kadir there.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
