US, Britain Back Terrorist Groups in Region: Iranian Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A ranking Iranian commander underlined that there is evidence the US and Britain back terror groups in the Middle East.

The US is trying to increase its popularity in the West Asian region through reversing the concept of terrorism and attributing it to anti-Israeli Resistance Front groups, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Monday.

“This is while the US is known as the main human rights violator and major supporter of terrorist groups and state-sponsored terrorism,” the commander added.

“There are clues, evidence and documents indicating that the US and Britain are behind the emergence and enhancement of terrorist groups in the Middle East,” he went on to say.

In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL).

Instead of genuinely fighting these terror groups, which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab governments, countries like the US try to accuse resistance groups in the region of being involved in terrorism.
