Foes Conducting Reconnaissance Flights to Assess Iran’s Military Power: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian deputy defense minister said the enemies carry out reconnaissance flights over waters south of the country to evaluate Iran’s military activities and defense capabilities.

“By sending reconnaissance flights to the region, particularly over the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, the enemies are seeking to monitor the activities of the (Iranian) armed forces to detect and analyze the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defense power,” Brigadier General Amir Hatami said on Tuesday.

Stressing the need for increased vigilance in the face of the enemies, the deputy minister warned that a major part of hostile plans against Iran is based upon reconnaissance.

The general then reiterated that military confrontation is not the principal strategy of Iran’s armed forces, but underlined that any attack against the country will receive a crushing response.

In comments in May, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei cautioned the adversaries against the “harsh reaction” they will have to suffer in case of any offense against Iran, stressing that the era of hit and run is over.

Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the enemies that they might begin a war against Iran, but the decision to end it would not be theirs.
