Arkansas Inmates Steal Keys, Take Control of Part of Maximum Security Prison

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Three correctional officers have been released after six inmates stole keys and took control of part of a maximum security prison in the US state of Arkansas.

The Arkansas Department of Correction said the three officers were held in the area the prisoners had controlled.

The department said in a statement the inmates took the keys during a recreation call at the prison known as the Maximum Security Unit in Tucker, 50 kilometers south-east of Little Rock, AP reported.

Emergency response teams and troopers were sent to the scene.

Local reports said the situation came to a peaceful end about three hours after it began.

Last month, a guard fired three warning shots at the same prison after two guards and an inmate were attacked in a solitary confinement area.
