Iran Speaker Sympathizes with Pakistan over Recent Terror Attacks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in separate messages to the Pakistani officials condoled with the country’s people and government over the recent terrorist attacks in Lahore and northwestern border with Afghanistan which claimed the life of more than 20 people.

In the messages to Pakistan Senate Chairman Reza Rabbani and Speaker of country’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Larijani condemned the terrorist attacks.

He also offered condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and wished health for the injured.

“The terrorist attacks remind every again of the serious danger of terrorist groups for the region and the world security and stability,” Larijani said, adding that these events prove the necessity of full-scale cooperation among all countries against the sinister phenomenon.

“Iran, as a country that is a victim of terrorism, stands beside the people in the brother country of Pakistan in the fight against this common threat,” he went on to say.

The Pakistani army said on Wednesday that a suicide bomber killed four soldiers in an attack in the troubled northwest near the border with Afghanistan.

It was at least the second major attack since Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi came to power a week ago.

At least 22 people were also wounded in a bombing in the restive eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday.
