UN Envoy, Iranian Diplomat Discuss Yemen
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The United Nations special envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, held a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari in Tehran on Saturday to discuss the situation in Yemen and ways to end the war there.
In the meeting in Tehran, the UN envoy and the Iranian diplomat explored avenues for the settlement of the conflicts in Yemen.
They also stressed the need for efforts to relaunch political peace talks in the Arab country and provide humanitarian aid for the people of Yemen who are facing famine and are buckling under a blockade.
The UN envoy arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning, and is also going to hold a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
